Optimization of a mobile application on Google Play

The blogs have discussed App Store optimization many times. While some posts provided advice for both the App Store and Google Play, in most cases the focus was on iOS apps. Android apps should definitely not be underestimated (there are some strong arguments for why you should be able to develop Android apps first), and below are tips for optimizing Google Play apps to help you reach more potential users.

Why search is important First of all, search results in 80% of downloaded apps of high quality, so on Google Play it is very important to optimize the app page. One can agree that “high quality applications” is a rather vague criterion. Consider the data in the table.

How to optimize your app page the good news is that there are several things that will help more users find your app:

Display the main keyword in the name of the application.

According to Fiske, this can significantly improve your position. It is recommended to indicate the name of the application on the icon, and also use this name as a keyword. However, it is believed that text on an icon is not very good, as it can cause problems with branding.

Use keywords in the application description at least 5 times.

Unlike the App Store, where it is impossible to search for the description of the application, your keyword is often used on Google Play, you can verify this.

1. Include a keyword in the app title

2. Use keywords in the description at least 5 times

Nice design and screenshots.

Just like on the App Store, the best screenshots can convince potential users to download your app.

Demo / promo video.

One of the benefits of Google Play is that you can add YouTube videos to promote your app, so don't miss this opportunity. If you open the app page on an Android smartphone, the video is next to the very first screenshot. (Professional Android App Designers in Atlanta, Georgia)

Getting feedback.

Since rankings are part of the search algorithm (see below), every effort should be made to get positive reviews.

Download the app: Create an app that will be used regularly.

A little more about Google Play ranking algorithms

Just like at Apple, no one knows anything about them, but let's try to understand this system. Below are the main criteria:

1. Number of Ratings: How many people have rated and viewed your app.

2. Rating

3. Number of downloads

4. Change in the number of downloads in the last 30 days

5. Deletions: The number of users who deleted the app

Usage: the frequency with which your application is used (reported by some developers)
